THE RETURN

-

The original Northwestern Knitting Company was founded in 1888 when two Minneapolis milling tycoons invested in George Munsing’s method of knitting wool fibers with cotton that formed two layers of fabric in a single cloth. After years in the making, NWKC returns with heavy parallels to its past and a vision for what is to come. We utilize an exclusively developed Merino Dual Cloth inspired by Munsing’s original fabric that is meticulously knit, cut, sewn, and finished across the United States.

MERINO DUAL CLOTH

-

The patented construction of NWKC's Merino Dual Cloth starts on a flat knitting machine, using three separate yarns to create two distinct layers: Fine Merino Wool, Cotton/Synthetic, and Spandex. This patented method of construction and exclusive combination of yarn is built for versatility in casual and active wear. With its high points of stretch and recovery, effortless care, and a clean aesthetic, the Merino Dual Cloth is an unequaled fabric no doubt worthy of resurrection.

THE PROCESS

-

Merino Dual Cloth is knit exclusively for the Northwestern Knitting Co. in North Carolina, sent to New York City's Garment District to be cut and sewn, then finished back in its original home: Minneapolis. Its trademark badge is also knit in a century old operation in St. Paul, Minnesota. Each piece of this process contributes to its revival and the quality of each touch point can be felt in its fabric, construction, and details.
